A surrogate daughter..? 18 2 7 (13) 25 1 30
And who knows one day she may get to read this blog
because she is the one person outside my immediate family who knows of the
existence of my BlogSpot with its perhaps unique alias..?
Of course to anyone familiar with the content of my
blogs it won't take long for someone to recognize the person I am about to
describe because I have written about her many times before though not so much
just recently?
What precipitated this particular blog then was a
conversation with my elder son S whom we haven't seen since Christmastime last
Saturday or Sunday evening as my wife and I returned from the Middle East when
A-E Face-timed him on her I-pad and she didn't get very far before he bit her
head off..? Such is this son's temper sometimes when roused, a less than
charming trait he no doubt inherited from his father, but thankfully not so
often and behind it is a bad patch of ill health and too much work etc.,
etc., etc.
So yesterday after writing my second blog since our
return I decided to send copies of the 2 of them off by email to this wayward
son and at the same time sent him a copy of the blog I wrote recently to help
one of his son's decide what kind of a career he should choose: a kind of olive branch initiative
on my part because I figured his son A won't have shared it with his Da and and
that it might well be that he harbours some resentment associated with his lack
of understanding for his eldest son recently..?
So the surrogate daughter I refer to was for many
years a follower of my picture parade I used to post of MySpace between the
years 2008 – 13 when the Blog was pulled and I decided to walk away from
MySpace little by little and finally altogether. We had corresponded on F-Book
for a short while before posting the pics of our Lakeland scenery here in
Scandinavia, since she had expressed a desire to see such, after our meeting in
Glasgow Scotland and spending 2 days sightseeing together 2008 8 27-28.
Posting the pics coincided with her return home to
Japan at the end of 2008 when after she posted pics of her European tour of
maybe 2 dozen countries she stopped posting on F-b and at the same time her
correspondence stopped.
It is remarkable therefore that somehow we managed
to continue a one sided relationship in the sense that only I continued to post
but when she continued to hit my two MySpace accounts when normally I would give only one of the two addresses to people I had met on holiday but which exceptionally in her case I gave the two. After a little while I introduced
the blog and from her copious blog hits we somehow kept a relationship of sorts
going wherein i got some feedback to my writings during all those years..?
But yesterday her profile pic disappeared from my
pc here and my friend lists showed one less profile pic so I reasoned she must
have decided to abandon F-book..? Only the day before she had climbed from 11th
to 7th position in my friend lists as everyone else was rearranged, only
for the rearrangement to be short-lived but then for her to disappear
altogether I was devastated.
Once I stopped posting on MySpace she wrote to me
in May 2014 a short note to apologise for not saying anything over the years
and then became active herself for a few months as if to bring everyone up to-date
with what was happening in her life before dropping back into her reverie or
reclusiveness..?
Then in 2016 I decided I too would leave off
posting on F-book but then to my surprise she suddenly appeared in my box of 6
f-b friends in my smart phone almost a year after I had walked away from it: on
the very anniversary of our sightseeing 2 days in Glasgow and for another
subsequent 4 days before disappearing once more..? As a happily married much older man I always
maintained our relationship was something akin to a father-daughter one when
its nice to go on thinking about her as the daughter I never had..? hahaha. Have a good day everyone how nice when we sometimes get to celebrate something without actually doing anything one way or the other..?
