The place to settle..14 4 28 (12) 25 1 22
To begin with I
awoke before my alarm went off a little after 7 00 because
today was the day I
had an appointment to see my doctor, a new one because our small town with its
small health centre has great difficulties keeping doctors: out here in the
sticks…and I had accepted the first suggested time of 8 40 which normally would
be a little too early for me a more of a night owl type of person…
So I had amble time to do all those
things one likes to do before entrusting one’s body to the medical
profession…like shower and stuff in the bathroom until, my wife who had her
guy, a joiner coming, mentioned how he needed access to our kitchen still full
of my dirty dishes left over from the weekend, when in the midst of washing
them I cut the third finger on my right hand just at its tip, with my freshly
sharpened chef’s knife, copious quantities of blood issuing forth to delay the
chore in favour of first aid…giving me cause now to hurry to clear the dishes
away…
But I was 2 minutes early for my
appointment and had time to collect the annual bill of €29.30 for using the
health centre, plus collect a copy of my blood profile test results for the
sample I had provided two weeks ago, from the receptionist: and time whilst
awaiting the doctor’s pleasure to check through the results and compare them to
the last results dated 13 9 29.
Well the new doctor Dr J.K. was a guy
of maybe 60 years whose first question was which language do I speak when I
replied Scandinavian and English my mother tongue, his continuing the while in
the main language of this my adoptive country...even complimenting me on my proficiency!
So we went through my medical history
since my rather big heart attack 12 years ago and all the various medications I
was taking, his asking me finally to remove my jacket shirt and tie so he could
check my blood pressure and sound my chest and lungs with his stethoscope, and
have me prostate myself on his bed so he could examine my main arteries….
In the process he became a little
chatty asking me whether my wife hailed from this our country of residence and
when I replied in the affirmative suggested that that was the usual reason for
a foreigner settling here. And when I corrected him telling him I came here for
my work, he said that was the second reason for people settling here…
Well he concluded we should maintain my
current medication at the same levels over the summer and revisit again in the
autumn for my second annual check-up when he also added a couple of additional
pre-examination heath tests, wishing me a good summer vacation beginning next
week for 6 weeks…thus ensuring I felt on top of the world once more content in
living in a place where everything appears pretty much to work as it should..? Check
out today’s pics for more evidence..? hahaha. Have a good day everyone I do
hope you chose your place to live as carefully..?
