A blog for willing readers of blog..? 18 1 3 (20) 25 2 16

When I awoke this morning and as quite often happens I began to ponder the question "What should I write about today?" my mind didn't take long before I also began to review why is it some of us have this need to write stuff down when others like my wife for example wouldn't be seen dead writing a blog… hahaha

Then I thought about the first time I ever put pen to paper to write something down for someone and it occurred to me it was probably as a cub in the Boy Scouts when our troop took a week's holiday on the Isle of Man which also involved my first sea voyages in an ocean going vessel, or so I believed it to be at the time, when on the return journey I also experienced my first and only bout of sea sickness: getting my hands on a bunk by a port-hole in Douglas harbour still moored up, and getting mesmerized by the sight of the sea and its movement of the waves, up and down, up and down, until finally I had to vacate my prize in great haste and high tail it for the nearest lavatory where I heaved up my breakfast into its bowl...

It was a schoolboy-ish letter to his Mam bringing her up to date with his exploits because the separation from his Mam was probably the longest up until that point that arose through his own acquiescence. The earliest separation was when as a toddler he was left with his baby sister in the care of his maternal Grandmother who used to live with us at the time, whilst mi Mam, as I used to refer to her, took our elder brother by 16 months to visit our father for a few days, who in May 1945 was to depart Britain's shores from Devon in the Empress of Canada never to return because of his untimely death August 4th, and I didn't forgive her for a long time because she had the audacity to leave me alone..?

So now you see I have managed to connect the business of writing stuff down with powerful memories and last but by no means least having a willing audience to show sufficient interest to read the stuff written, a most important corollary..? Just lately my blog has been taking hits not only in the USA, my most popular market, but in France, Poland and after a long absence someone or some people in the Russian Federation, one of this group hitting 21 of my blogs and going as far back as September 2013 because some blog titles from that period attracted their interest..?

But after another long absence these last few days I have been
dipping into my old blogs from when I first retired in 2008 and used to post on MySpace(s) to a much more restricted audience—that is people I had met on vacation and given my MySpace address or addresses to—up until June 2013 when MySpace decided in their wisdom to remove the facility to write blogs, and instead focus on the people who make up the Music Industry. To their credit they did however return all our blogs in zipped files which contain all the most important parts of them: the words if not all the pics intact, and unlike here on BlogSpot I used to get to know who was hitting. For example my most loyal hitter was this young lady whom I met in Glasgow when we went sightseeing together for a few days and then briefly corresponded before her return to Japan some months later when she appeared to dispense with all her correspondents as she became an absentee friend on Facebook to quite an extensive collection of friends she had collected on her European and Asian travels and her sojourn as an Art Student in UK..?

The only reason I can say this with any conviction is because on the 9th anniversary of our meeting and sightseeing together in Glasgow 27th and 28th August her profile picture suddenly appeared in my box of 6 friends in my smart phone, and only disappeared again after a total of 6 days of hits, which much later I attributed to the fact that my blogging and her hitting had continued for 6 years in total..!? hahaha

Have a good day everyone as I begin to think the compunction to write blogs in some people has the corollary that for some people the compunction to read the blogs of others is equally compelling..?
