My benefactor's take on fame and fortune..? 13 7 24 (19) 25 2 10
Yeah it's high time you stopped pussy-footing around and gave us some of the dirt in your miraculous rise to fame Sodai? do I hear a chorus of voices ask in this the 16th offering my blog..? lol
No, I'll get there ney bother.. as my compatriots in that other country I like to think of as my second home are apt to enjoin...Scotia no less..or Scotland in the modern idiom..? hahaha
Or an alternative title to this blog might read: Part 1 of the Life of an Archetypal Belt and Braces Man..a rapidly disappearing species in the developed countries of the second millennium ..?
Just get on with it please..!
Ok.
Well to begin with when my Ma took me aged 15 to visit the youth employment officer in our small provincial northern England town in the county of Lancashire he told her he normally kept the jobs for young laboratory workers on one side for High School and Grammar School boys (probably omitting to add girls: remember this was in the dark ages..!)
Well Alice, herself a Grammar school girl, told him straight it was not his job to decide, but the decision of the prospective bosses in the companies in question, all of which lead in the fullness of time to my being accepted as a laboratory assistant in one of the town's what? maybe 25 paper mills at the time...carving out a career in the chemistry and physics of paper making pulp manufacture cellulose film extrusion and so on.. and in my 60s being elected by peers to the position of chairperson and president of an International Organisation, whilst at the same time being accepted to the UK's body of so-called Chartered Scientists no less..?
So you got an axe to grind after all is said and done Sodai, you devil you..?
I think this is enough hilarity for one blog a blog which at this rate will quickly become buried beneath a lot more more light-hearted banter but who can tell if my blog will gather more momentum to perhaps tease more of the same kind of stuff off my sometimes poisonous pen..? lol
No, i guess one doesn't get to travel half way round the world in one's chosen profession and move country and culture 1/2 dozen times without making a few enemies here and there.. though if I ever got to tread on anyone's toes I would say they sometimes managed to break a few of mine as a response and surprise surprise I even got to make a few friends too along the way..?
More on these and related subjects later then..? Well let us see..? I got to go to the airport and pick up some of our young people and their young ones for a family re-union in the days ahead..?
Have a good day everyone..?
Pics today:
1) sun high in sky this am at 6 34
2) it used to be said 70% of trade here came in or left by ship n it's always nice to see brisk sea traffic still..?
3) giving a V-sign the right way round with my recently repaired 3rd and 4th fingers of my right hand for those of you appreciative of such sentiments..?
