Roller Coasting ..? 19 01 10 (12) 25 2 1


10 years ago this last week then this pic I used to adorn one of my recent blogs which was where my Roller Coaster of Light and Dark really began on January 5th 2009 when I started going down our local beach each day, little suspecting I was starting something that would continue for some considerable time, and when at the same time I began posting some of the pics on MySpace...


...the time in the first pic was 9:28 and in the this next one, once I had returned home, to sit where I am sitting now as I write this blog in my study 9:45, which graphically tells how fortunate I am to live in a place where for a part of the year in the depths of winter the sun rises at the bottom of our East-facing garden, at a time of day which suits a retired person wishing to follow the sun's progress, though increasingly of course as the sun rises earlier and earlier, around 4am and even earlier around midsummer, you will understand it's not always so easy getting up at the crack of dawn..?

On the 16th January that year I got to see one of the Spotted Woodpeckers which gave itself away with its ra-a-tat-tatting, as they drill through the outer layers of an old tree trunk as in this pic for example, for their food the insects which inhabit such places. As the year wore on I would get to see many more birds, with the return of the summer migrants, etc., and so I guess this was one of the delights of being retired whilst no longer needing to go to a place of work... 

On the 23rd of January I got to meet this what I believed to be a couple, a man and wife, Å, and his friend, M, at 9 07, who made their transit past our stretch of beach every morning around this same time, and in the fullness of time they would stop and chat to the extent they became friends with whom I still stop and chat with, every once in a while even today 10 years on...

I was going to conclude this pictorial with the setting of the sun but I am afraid these come later in the year because to begin with it was the sea and the sun which took my fancy, this last pic also from 09 1 5 but at the later time of 9 33. Have a good day everyone..?

Which query came to mind just the other day as I started re-reading some old blogs from 5 to 10 years ago from the time I used to post my blogs on MySpaces..? We have all heard this expression and I expect those of us with a good imagination can conjure up in our minds what it must be like. But I do not fall myself into this category of person but instead in order to imagine what it must be like I have to experience something similar which is the subject of this particular blog... You see I have just returned from the dentist and her technician when at the beginning of the week I felt something akin to the condemned man on death row with his imminent demise rapidly approaching: in a very small way it has to be said but, nonetheless... When I last visited a Rotary Club Meeting...25 3 18

I was just 20 yrs of age plus maybe 7 months. It was subsequent to the 17th July since that was the day I first stepped onto Finnish soil. 10th of August to 30th of September to be precise, the time I was employed by Kymene Ab or Kymin Oy, the one Swedish the second its Finnish name. So some time between these two dates after Engeneer Örnhjelm, the Manager of one of the two Production Plants, one for Wood Pulp Production the other for Paper Production, invited me to accompany him to their next meeting and tell something about my background. What I told them was that I had worked at a Paper Mill, New Bury Paper Mills Ltd., belonging to the Wiggins Teape Group, for 5 years since leaving school in July 1955.
