Growing old as younger ppl pass on..? 25 3 25
Not a preferred end to one's life but protracted it has to be said for the ever surer outcome is inevitably one's own demise. A laying on of the line you might say. But grateful i am not lying in state like my present brother-in-law K-J who has followed his younger brother a little over a year ago who himself was followed by his much younger wife. So there you have 3 examples of what i am talking about. And none of these ppl who could have been said to have died young before their time? That's when one compares their passing to many many more who predisceased them after the biblical (?) 3 score years plus 10.
Take my father who died almost 80 years ago the 4th August 1945 and his father who died when my dad was only 8 and my dad's only sister who also died whilst i was still a boy around the age of 50 as their father before them, of a similar age to their paternal fathers. With the exception of my father all these people's death was in all probability the result of myocardial infarctions so my dad's sister's eldest son surmised, himself a victim as was one of his three younger half brothers.
As luck would have it I still have my older brother alive and also our sister's husband who taken together are the senior citizens still in my family life. "Luck" or "good fortune" only one aspect of what we are now talking about but moving from England to Finland first in my formative years and after several false starts settling here in a more egalitarian society has i have to think been one of the factors when i couldn't have had a more creature friendly health service, since on the last occasion i moved country, to become a permanent resident and Finn by naturalisation already 37 years ago.
But if my relatively speaking longevity derives in part from the foregoing I have to be also thankful for all my life leading an active life associated with daily walking and otherwise working out. Of course genetics plays a major part as well but I have to think that when my major myocardial infarction struck me 6th April 2002 it was due to the latter statement it didn't sweep me clean away in the fashion of my father's male antecedents.
And now i must adjourn so i am not late for today's daily swim and the first of those work outs for this bright looking March day with ever more light for the next few months! Have a good continuation to this day evryone!
