Rumbling someone after a wee while..? 2026 5 8

Yeah, it's not something one gets to do that often but when one does one can't help feeling pleased with one's self...
Like this guy Readi, Mr Reed I started calling him in my thoughts after the event.
Someone I met aged 15 he 26 already already a man of the world me just a green horn not knowing anything about anythinhg, except the knowledge I could be easily led...
Cycling along he the Clarion Cycling Club's best all rounder, a racing cyclist most proficient in the 25, 50 and 100 miles time trials in 1955 just returned from one of his tours round Europe, but on this last occasion working the "VENDAGE" collecting in the vine harvest which used all the cheap lanbour it could get, making himself another "Working class hereo for so behaving...
Well on the day in question he singled me out to offload a pair of white crocheted knee length socks he's ordered by post in 2 adjacent sizes figuring if the larger size was too big he would off load it onto me, the other way round he had probably some much smaller person in mind.
So he had me running after him for the next 48 yrs when after a further 5 yrs I went to see him one last time at the start of my finally retiring 1st August 2008. When at first he refused to answer the knock on his door which had me going round to the back of his house climbing over its full length gate walking past his now over grown garden to see him half naked watching his tv through his living room window when at last he condescended to answer my knock now on his window.
"What do you want?" was his first remark, to which I answered: "It sounds like you no longer wish to be friends?"
"I think you'd better go" he responded to me with my wife outside his back door, when we decided just to do as he suggested. In so doing my deciding I wasn't going to indulge him further, by this time a very pathetic figure...
Pathetic but still very rich since he had managed to get his last long term girl friend the lovely Dorothy aged 56 to his 69 when she died leaving all her money to him no need for them to finally marry, when I figured i was itching to become his natural beneficiary when he icked the bucket, but no now i was free at last so off we trotted never to cross paths again.
