A blog for an unknown friend..? 15 2 22 (17) 25 1 23
10 17 this Sunday morning and I am only now coming
into Blog-spot to see what if anything has been going down and surprise
surprise I did have a visitor since I last came in but exceptionally a visitor
who may have stayed long enough to read my entire output of 214 blogs because I
noted 217 page hits for this single visitor. High praise indeed and the reason
I just had to put pen to paper on this day of all days...
Being a Sunday I got my breakfast in bed brought by
my dear wife: first the 2 halves of a whole wheat bread pap toasted with butter
cheese avocado and tomato layered on each half, and a teacup filled with our
favourite instant espresso coffee, peeled orange missing owing to my wife's
defective memory which happily returned a short while later so I got my orange
too, but only after eating my toast...Simple things in life but which mean so
much. hahaha
So I had drawn up the blind in my study to let more
light in and just continued lying in bed while I perused the news through my
still relatively new smart phone, the news and other stuff on this grey
winter's day temperature + 2 degrees C about 35 degrees F...Of course yesterday
was my wife's turn to get her coffee in bed and fortunately for both she and me I
remembered her peeled orange right off...
But today I see the world through more what one
should perhaps describe as rose-tinted glasses because our evening ended
yesterday with my wife talking for an hour on the phone to first our younger
son and then his wife when something then came up in UK so that I didn't get to
speak to either of them, and felt my nose just a wee bit out of joint since it
had been flagged up as a joint effort...
As I have pointed out before it is a stressful time
for our son because of his recent myocardial infarction 13 years after my own
and because of the different cultures of the two countries in which we reside:
our health service having an infinite amount of time to deal with such things
whereas the UK with 10 times more people has 10 times less time or so it seems
sometimes, and then the doses of statins prescribed in UK appear almost 10
times the amounts prescribed here... I was first prescribed 10 mg per day which
I succeeded in reducing by one half when the F and D A in the USA issued a
warning that such medications can lead to memory loss: with the result I noted
an almost immediate benefit in terms of cognitive function to the extent my GP
or Dr allowed me to continue with the reduced dose which hasn't led to a
significant increase in my blood cholesterol, etc., etc., etc.
Today therefore I just think our son will find out
in the fullness of time for himself as I did and I congratulate myself that he
at least has the benefit of my experience to draw on should he feel the need so
to behave.. which he won’t..! hahaha. Have a good day everyone as I hope you
also have the benefit of rose-tinted glasses sometimes..?
